Please note: Lip blush will appear darker and bolder due to natural scabbing and healing for the first 3 -4 days. This is very common for all permanent cosmetic procedures AND they will look lighter and patchy somewhere from day 5-15. The end result and color are more visible in about 4-5 weeks. Please be patient because even though the surface of skin looks healed the underneath tissue is not and it takes up to 4-6 weeks to heal.
- No WATER contact for 48 hours.
- Your lips will have puffiness or swelling for about 1-2 days which will go away and your lips will shrink back to normal. Lips will start to peel from inside towards the edges.
- You can apply ice pack to help with the swelling. Apply a layer of the balm, then use a Water wipe over the lips and put a clean ice pack over the Water wipe for 10 minute, interval in the first 24 hours. Do not let the ice pack make direct contact with your lips.
- Clients with sun damage, scar tissue and implants may not have strong results.
- Use a straw for drinking especially if the drink is hot. Avoid biting into big sandwiches, spicy, salty, greasy, oily and sour (acidic) food. Cut them in small pieces and place them in your mouth without touching your lips. These can be very irritating and painful. Avoid stretching of the lips.
- Avoid moisturizing your lips with saliva and by rubbing them against each other, this will lead to more dryness. As soon as you feel the lips are dry apply the Balm gently.
- After tenderness subsides, they will become flaky and look chapped. This is a normal “frosting over” period. DO NOT pick any flakes or you will lose pigment
- When brushing your teeth use a small amount of toothpaste to minimize discomfort and avoid toothpaste with whitening agents, this can cause uneven pigment retention results.
- Continue taking your anti-viral medication for the next 3 days.
- In the first 48 hours use Water wipes every 2-3 hours to remove lymph and oozing from lips. After wiping let them air dry and apply a thin layer of the After Care Gel. Apply the gel whenever you feel your lips are dry.
- If you wash your face please avoid the lip area to minimize any infection.
- Avoid kissing until the lips are healed
- After 48 hours no more water wipes! Keep applying the gel for another 7 days. Keep your lips moisturized all the time until completely healed.
- Maintain facial hygiene (you can use your face-wash but avoid the lip area) and apply the Tattoo After Care gel after washing your face or having a shower.
What is to be avoided:
- During the first 7 days all the creams (except for the protective one), all make-up (lipstick, lip gloss, chapstick) in the lip area.
- avoid smoking for at least 7 days.
- Avoid workouts that involve a lot of sweating, sauna, facial massage and steaming – inhalation.
In the next 30 days:
- Sunbathing, solarium, light therapies, chemical peelings, fruit acids, microdermabrasion, creams that contain regeneration factors.
- Always avoid laser treatments over the treated area (fraxel laser, IPL), because they can destroy the pigment and cause burns.
- Use of antibiotics and hormonal therapy can lead to a faster pigment fading. Always protect the lips from the sun with SPFs (not during the first 7 days)
Important Note: Avoid Petroleum Jelly or Vaseline during your healing period.
Anything with a Petroleum or Vaseline base can cause a reaction and can cause crusting and scabbing. Vaseline/Petroleum can also cause sweating as the skin is not able to breathe.
DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring.
